Polyester Lanyard with 3D PVC Logo

Polyester Lanyard with 3D PVC Logo

A polyester lanyard with a 3D PVC logo swaps a flat printed design for a raised, rubberized logo patch. It's molded in layers and sewn onto the strap. The result has real depth you can feel under a thumb, closer to the logo patch on a backpack or cap than a typical printed lanyard.

Every strap measures 20mm by 900mm, with a 25mm width also available, finished with a bulldog clip. Because the logo is molded PVC rather than ink, it resists fading, cracking, and peeling far better than a printed strap over months of daily wear. It suits corporate branding, staff passes, and any lanyard meant to look and feel more premium than the standard printed version.

When a Logo Needs to Be Felt, Not Just Seen

Most lanyard logos are flat. Ink sits on the surface of the strap. You look at it, you read it, you move on. A 3D PVC logo interrupts that pattern by giving the design actual height. Run a thumb across it and there's something there: raised edges, a texture, a shape you can feel with your eyes closed. It's a small physical detail. It changes how a lanyard registers with the person wearing it. It even matters to anyone who happens to shake their hand while it's swinging around their neck.

This isn't a new idea. The same molded PVC construction shows up on backpack zipper pulls, cap patches, and phone cases — anywhere a brand wants a logo to read as an object rather than a print. Putting it on a lanyard just moves that same technique onto something worn all day, every day. That's exactly where the extra durability starts to pay for itself.

How a 3D PVC Logo Actually Gets Made

The process starts with a mold cut to the exact outline of the logo. It has separate cavities for each color and each raised level in the design. Liquid PVC is essentially a soft, pliable rubber compound. It gets poured or injected into those cavities one color at a time, then cured until it sets. Each color sits in its own recessed or raised section of the mold, so the colors don't bleed into each other the way ink can on fabric. Once the patch has cured and been trimmed, it gets sewn or heat-bonded directly onto the lanyard strap.

That's a genuinely different process from printing. Printing is really just applying a thin layer of ink or dye to the surface of an existing fabric strap. A 3D PVC logo is closer to manufacturing a small separate object and then attaching it. That's part of why it costs a bit more and takes a bit more lead time than a straightforward printed design. But it's also why the result holds up so differently over time.

3D PVC vs. Printed, Woven and Embroidered Logos

Every lanyard branding method makes a different trade-off. It's worth knowing where 3D PVC actually sits among them, rather than assuming it's simply the premium option by default.

Printed lanyards, whether silkscreen or full-color sublimation, are the cheapest and fastest way to get a logo onto a strap. They're genuinely fine for a single event or a short-term giveaway. The trade-off is that ink sits on the surface, so it can fade with UV exposure or wear thin with repeated washing.

Woven lanyards stitch the design directly into the fabric using the loom itself. This gives a textured, almost embroidered look that holds up extremely well. But it works best with simple shapes and limited colors, since fine detail tends to blur once it's woven.

Embroidered logos are more common on caps and bags than lanyards. They build the design out of stitched thread, giving a raised, textured finish with a classic look. Very fine text or gradients don't translate well to thread, though.

A 3D PVC logo sits somewhere between woven and embroidered in feel. It can hold sharper detail and more colors than either, since the mold defines the shape precisely instead of relying on thread or loom tension. It's not the cheapest option on this list, and it's not the fastest to produce. For a logo that needs to survive years of daily wear without softening, though, it's usually the most durable choice available.

Why the Extra Durability Matters More Than It Sounds

A printed lanyard that fades after eight months isn't really a failure. It did its job for the event it was made for. But a staff lanyard that gets worn five days a week for two or three years is a different kind of product entirely. That's where the gap between printing and molding actually shows up.

The color in a 3D PVC logo is part of the material itself, not a layer sitting on top of it. There's nothing on the surface to scratch off. There's no ink layer to crack when the strap gets folded in a bag. There's no gradual fading from sun exposure either, the way a printed dye can experience. The logo you see on day one is close to what you'll see on day eight hundred. For a company that reissues staff lanyards only when someone joins or leaves, rather than replacing the whole batch every year, that longevity is the actual reason to spend more upfront.

What Kind of Logo Works Best in 3D PVC

Not every logo suits this technique equally well. It's worth knowing the limits before committing artwork to a mold. Bold, simple shapes with clear boundaries between colors translate best. Think a wordmark, an icon, or a crest — anything where each color occupies its own distinct area. Fine linework, small text under a few millimeters, and soft gradients tend to lose definition once they're molded. The PVC needs enough thickness in each section to hold its shape and stay durable.

Most designs work comfortably with somewhere between two and five colors. Beyond that, the mold starts getting complicated and the tooling cost climbs. If a design leans heavily on photographic detail or a gradient background, it's worth considering a full-color printed or sublimated lanyard instead. 3D PVC does its best work with clean, graphic artwork, not anything that needs to look like a photograph.

Picking Strap Size, Color and Finishing

The strap itself comes in a default 20mm width. A 25mm option is also available, for logos that need a bit more surface area to sit comfortably alongside the PVC patch. Both widths run the standard 900mm length. That fits most adult neck sizes without feeling too short or trailing too low.

Strap color is fully customizable. It's worth thinking about alongside the PVC patch colors, rather than as an afterthought. A strap that closely matches or deliberately contrasts with the logo colors tends to look more intentional than one picked at random. The lanyard finishes with a bulldog clip as standard. This holds a badge or card holder securely without the moving parts of a swivel hook. Other clip styles can typically be swapped in on request, though.

Where 3D PVC Lanyards Actually Get Used

Corporate branding is the most common reason businesses order this style. This is especially true for companies that already use rubber or PVC patches elsewhere in their merchandise lineup — think caps, backpacks, or staff polo shirts. They want the lanyard to match that same tactile branding language, rather than switching to flat print for one item.

Staff ID passes are another strong fit, especially in workplaces where lanyards get worn daily for years rather than issued fresh for each event. Schools sometimes use them for long-serving staff badges, where the durability offsets the higher per-unit cost over the badge's working life. Retail and hospitality brands occasionally choose 3D PVC for uniform lanyards specifically because the raised logo reads clearly from a short distance. That matters when a customer is trying to identify staff quickly across a shop floor.

It's less common for single-use event badges, conference giveaways, or anything that's realistically getting thrown away within a few weeks. It's generally not worth the extra cost there. That's where a 1-color print lanyard does the same job for less money.

Getting Your Artwork Ready

Vector files — AI, EPS, or PDF — give the cleanest result. The mold needs precise, scalable outlines rather than a raster image that has to be traced. If you're working from a logo that only exists as a JPEG or PNG, it usually needs to be redrawn as a vector first. Most suppliers will do this as part of the proofing process, rather than charging separately for it.

Specify Pantone colors wherever possible, rather than relying on how a design looks on a particular screen. PVC color matching works from a physical color chart, not an RGB value. A digital proof showing the finished mold layout, colors, and placement should come back before production starts. It's worth actually checking that proof against your Pantone references rather than approving it on sight. A mismatched color is far more expensive to fix in molded PVC than in a printed design.

FAQs

Polyester Lanyard with 3D PVC Logo FAQs

Quick answers about materials, printing, bulk orders and delivery.

It is a durable polyester neck strap featuring a raised, rubberised PVC logo applied in multiple layers, giving your branding a tactile, three-dimensional finish that stands out more than a flat printed design.

The most common size is 20mm wide and 900mm long, though widths of 10mm, 15mm, and 25mm are also available depending on your branding and card holder needs.

MOQ varies by supplier — some start from as low as 10–20 pieces, while others require 50 or 100 pieces. Lower MOQs suit small events, and larger runs bring the per-piece price down significantly.

Prices typically start from around SGD $0.70–$1.00 per piece for larger quantities, with the exact cost depending on quantity, print method, hardware, and add-ons like card holders. Setup fees may apply for smaller orders.

Standard production usually takes 5–7 working days after artwork approval, though some suppliers offer express turnaround of 2–3 days. Lead time is counted from artwork sign-off, not order placement, so plan around 2 weeks before your event.

Yes. The strap colour is fully customisable, simply provide your Pantone colour code so the polyester strap and PVC logo match your corporate branding exactly.
